“Hunter problems and predictions

May 19th, 2008 by wowhunterzone

“In the wake of the recent confusion regarding Scare Beast, once again some hunters have gotten to complaining a lot about the state of their class. While on one hand, there are certainly problematic issues hunters are having, it’s really not fair to say that the class is broken. It isn’t — being a hunter is more fun than its ever been, and it looks like this class will only get better in the future. Nonetheless, looking at the problems we do have might give us a clearer sense of where we’re going in the future. With more and more information coming out about Wrath of the Lich King, and especially since Blizzard started asking for feedback from hunters, it’s worthwhile to have a look at what holes do exist for our class, and how future changes might seek to plug them up. Mana Hunters don’t like running out of mana in the middle of a fight, but other mana users don’t like that either. Are hunters entitled to something like rage or energy as physical damage dealers like warriors and rogues, or are we just being picky. Since we aren’t really wizards of any sort, does our use of mana cause more problems than it solves. One thing to keep in mind is that intellect helps out casters a lot by providing spell crit in addition to mana pool, whereas for hunters it only provides a larger mana pool, often at the expense of physical crit. My wild brainstorming mind imagines: what if hunters had a “”focus pool”" much like mana, except that it was determined by agility rather than intellect. This way, it would let us focus in on fewer important stats which benefit us in more ways than one. On the other hand, perhaps having to juggle more stats than usual is one of the things that makes choosing hunter gear a more interesting task. This is a big problem on lots of hunters’ minds — but what’s Blizzard going to do about it.

It’s been a problem since the very beginning, and so far Blizzard’s main answer has been Aspect of the Viper. Whether that is enough or not remains to be proven. Wrath of the Lich King may bring more mana-regenerating abilities, but personally I would prefer an overhaul of the mana system, and a replacement with something more hunter-like. Call it focus or energy, pizzazz or chutzpah; it doesn’t matter to me, but make it feel more like something a hunter would use, not a magician. Pet training The idea behind learning new pet skills out in the wild and then gradually teaching them to your pet is a great one on the surface. wow gold The first time you’re leveling a hunter it can even be quite interesting to go hunt down the pet skills you can get as they become available. But once its novelty wears off, it becomes a mere chore, especially if you’re leveling a hunter for the second time, your heart yearns for something more efficient. To make things worse, the current system requires that you always keep one space available in your stable for switching out with various throwaway pets, tamed only for the abilities they have to offer your regular animal companions. From an endgame perspective, when people like to have maximum versatility for various situations, the current implementation lacks in elegance as well as efficiency. We will probably see Blizzard introduce some solution intended to simplify this at some point. wow gold If they do it right, they’ll likely use a reductionist method to just try and blend it in with other elements of the game. If not, I fear they might try to introduce some entirely new mechanic that just shifts the problem around without actually solving it. We’ll have to wait and see. ” “Hey, fellow rogues! It’s been a while! Well, more like nearly two months.
wow power leveling Sorry. But we’re back with some fresh ideas, one of which is this: how can you roleplay as a rogue without seeming like a cliche. Admittedly, I’m new to RP, and my RP character is a draenei priest — about as far from my beloved troll rogue as one can get. mp3 players So this article is geared to people who, like me, are new to RP. The more experienced RPers can correct all my horrifying, glaring errors in the comments. So, let’s start out with: Picking a race Each race has different rogue traditions, heroes, and senses of morality. Here’s a quick overview: Humans control several rogue organizations: the Ravenholdt guild, their archrival Syndicate organization, and SI:7, the official intelligence agency of Stormwind. wow gold If you’re interested in “”joining”" any of these organizations (or the vaguely rogue-ish Defias Brotherhood), human would be a good choice. Night elf rogues would seem to have some difficulty fitting in with their peaceful, nature-loving society. However, night elves have skills at stealth, and every society needs its enforcers. wow gold The night elf police force, known as the Wardens, always has room for a good rogue — and the archdruid Fandral Staghelm might not be above employing some sneaky folk to advance his political goals.RELATED LINKS:

“The Guild, season finale: Boss Fight

May 19th, 2008 by wowhunterzone

“The Guild ends its first season as all good raids usually end: with a big boss fight. Zaboo’s mom appeared in the last seconds of the previous episode, and in this one, the Guild pulls and… well, you’ll just have to watch and find out whether it’s a wipe or whether the loot drops. I have to say, it is pretty classic — I officially renounce my complaint before that they’ve never shown ingame action. Out-of-game action like this is much more fun to watch. Curse also interviewed both Felicia Day and producer Kim Evey about what it’s like making the show (it sounds pretty rough, actually — hopefully Felicia won’t get so famous that she doesn’t have time to do this any more), and in there they mention also that DVDs of the whole thing are coming soon. So maybe if they put something up for sale, we can make sure that these guys get rewarded for all the great work they do. There’s no info yet on Season 2 or when it will come, but considering that this episode is led off with a big reminder that this is an award-winning and viewer-acclaimed series, we’re guessing it won’t be too long. Last Sunday, It came from the Blog celebrated Mother’s Day by taking a bunch of female Orcs to the Barrens and telling “”Your Mom”" jokes. I had a lot of fun and discovered that my ICFTB guildies were very creative. Daniel Whitcomb also joined us with Okasama, his Orc-Mom. On Saturday, I was on the WoW Insider Show with Mike, Turpster, Amanda Dean and her mom, Linda Emrys and we discussed what we would be doing for the event. Turpster joked that we would be telling jokes such as “”Your Mom is so supportive, she’s like a suspension bridge.”" I contradicted him on the show, but he ended up being right to a point.

Many of the jokes did begin “”Your Mom is so cool…”" and “”Your Mom is so hot…”", but there were of course plenty of “”Yo mama is so fat…”" and the like, as well. Blunderbooze aka Mauka has some pictures up from our Mother’s Day fun and Lachenrohl aka Mahmi blogged about it. I have created a gallery of the event, plus my choice of the best jokes from Barrens Chat. There are even portraits of all the participating Orc-Moms. [Update] Yermum also blogged about the fun. Our next event probably won’t be for a couple weeks or so, but I will be leveling up one of my ICFTB alts: Robinara, Robiness, Robinelle, etc. If you are interested in joining the guild for some casual play and event fun, come join us on Zangarmarsh (U.S.), Horde-side and look for anyone from It came from the Blog. ” “I only slightly mentioned this back on the podcast, I think, but there was a fairly interesting change that snuck in the patch notes on 2.4.2: lots of formerly main hand weapons have become one-hand weapons. wow gold There are a couple of theories poking around about why this could be — dual wield is first and foremost, of course, as this change allows classes who dual wield, including Rogues and Enhancement Shammies, to have a little more choice as to what weapons they can use. Death Knights will also be able to dual wield in the expansion, and this will open things up for them a bit as well. And Blacksmithing weapons were apparently changed as well (in addition to losing their “”unique”" status), so Blacksmithers have a little more leeway, too. But there is one thing that, according to Blizzard, will always keep weapons in one-hand status. wow gold Caster stats, according to both Drysc and Hortus, will mean that weapons will always stay one-hand.
So feel free to do as much switching around as you want in terms of speed and melee damage, but there’ll be no stacking of healing or spell damage bonuses (with Shamans or Death Knights). Which isn’t really a big loss — it means that Blizzard has much more leeway in creating healing and spell damage weapons than they do while making melee weapons. But it does mean that if you want to play around with weapon combos, you have to go melee — healers and casters get to choose one and stick with it. Talent trees and specific abilities Many people seem to think that Beast Mastery is just fine, but that Marksmanship and Survival are having issues. wow Some of the talents seem lackluster and less synergetic than Beast Mastery talents. Likewise, when it comes to more generalized specific abilities, there are many varied points of view. Some people say that traps are not useful enough, for instance, or that their cooldown is too short. wow gold Others say that Beast Lore, Tranquilizing Shot, and others should be changed so that we use them more often. Specific abilities like these are the hardest to predict. Blizzard has their own mind when it comes to tweaking things. wow gold I have yet to see any player suggest “”Ability X should be adjusted like such and such”" and hear Blizzard respond, “”okay!”" More often they look at the general principles we raise and then apply their own solution to them in a way we’d never have thought of on our own. mp3 player Blizzard’s unpredictability applies for every issue on this list. We can tell them the problem and ask them our questions, but the answer we get will almost never be what we expected. “RELATED LINKS:

“Crowd Control

May 19th, 2008 by wowhunterzone

“Crowd Control can be described as the process of efficiently dealing with multiple monsters attacking you or your party at the same time. This is the case whether the attack is expected or unexpected. Essentially this means disabling extra monsters and fighting just one monster. Battles can be much safer because you’re fighting a smaller number of monsters. For example, you can pull two monsters, disable one, and only fight one monster at a time. Also, you could pull four monsters and disable two. Some packs of monsters are too numerous to use crowd control, but generally it is an important skill to utilize when fighting. Groups that are good at crowd control can typically accomplish much more in a shorter amount of time than those that have no crowd control ability. How to Control a Crowd First, identify party members with specific spells or abilities that can disable monsters. There are many of these immobilization abilities. We will identify a few of them for sample purposes. Mage - Polymorph - The Mage polymorphs a monster, changing it to a sheep so that the party can fight the other monsters. Rogue - Sap - Rogue disables a humanoid monster. You must sneak up and Sap the monster before it is attacked. Druid - Entangling Roots - Druid entangles one monster while the party fights additional monsters. Warlock - Fear - Sends a monster running away. This is sometimes not the best to use because they can bring back help. Warlock - Banish - Disables a Demon or Elemental for a short amount of time. wow gold Priest - Psychic Scream - Similar to Fear with restrictions. Priest - Shackle Undead - Priest holds an undead in place while party fights other monsters. Hunters - Freezing Trap Item - Engineers Make/Sell: Target Dummies. Put the Abilities into Action Inform everyone in your party that you’ll be using your crowd control abilities.

Then tell them what to do and when. You may have to be the person who pulls for the party, depending on which ability is used. wow gold The procedure is for you to cast your spell, or use your ability, on the monster you don’t wish to fight. This may wake up an additional monster(s) near the disabled enemy. The other monster will typically come running when you disable its partner, if both monsters are aggressive. cheap wow gold Make sure your party members do not attack the disabled monster, which will “”wake them up”". This can be difficult to do if your party members are not experienced players. Thus it may require some training. wow gold Pay attention to which player “”woke up the monster”", point them out, and chastise them. Remind party members that ‘area of effect’ spells will wake up sleeping monsters, so they should be used with caution, if at all. Remind party members not to cast a DoT (damage-over-time) on a monster. mp3 players Otherwise you won’t be able to sleep them. When fighting higher level monsters you may have a much more difficult time disabling the monster due to spell resists. Drag the Awake Monster Once one of the monsters is disabled, drag the other attacking monster away from its sleeping counterpart. wow gold That way, it will be clear to everyone in the party which monster they should be attacking. It is also then clear to players that the other monster is disabled, and it will be easier to notice when the immobilized monster has woken up.RELATED LINKS:

“Raid Groups

May 19th, 2008 by wowhunterzone

“Raid groups in World of Warcraft prove the axiom that there is strength in numbers. Raids of up to 40 people can fight powerful monsters, wage war in player vs. player battles, and work with others to share loot, experience, and quests in raid dungeons. Raids allow you to venture into the most dangerous areas and overcome the pinnacle of challenges in World of Warcraft. Forming a Raid Starting a raid is as easy as starting a group - inviting others to join your adventure. However, to expand your group into a raid you must first convert your group into a raid group. The option to convert to a raid can be found in the Raid panel of your Social tab. The maximum number of players that can fit into one raid is 40. However, raid dungeons have maximum raid size caps that vary by dungeon. For example, many raid dungeons in The Burning Crusade allow a maximum raid size of 25. Quest Credit You can not complete objectives for a non-raid quest while in a raid. For example, a raid member does not receive credit for killing creatures or collecting items for non-raid quests. Special raid quests are the only quests that you can complete while in a raid group. Experience Defeating monsters while in a raid group grants substantially less experience than while in a normal group. However, enemies in raid dungeons also tend to yield significantly more experience per monster than normal monsters. Raid Group Structure A raid group shares a chat channel, experience, loot, instances, and raid quests. At the same time, the raid is subdivided into 5-person groups. You will always be assigned to one of these 5-man groups, initially by simply joining the raid which will automatically assign you to a group. After joining the raid, your raid leader may manually reassign and rearrange the groups at any time.

The subdivision has several effects on the members of the raid. Each group can communicate in their own party chat which is only viewable by that group. Only the members of your 5-man group will display on your minimap. In addition, and perhaps most important, many beneficial group spells and abilities used by a group member will only extend to that group. Common examples include a Paladin’s auras, a Shaman’s totems, and a Warlock’s Blood Pact. wow gold These spells and effects must be considered by the raid leader and assistants when forming a well-balanced raid. Raid Leaders and Assistants A raid leader has special tools to assist in raid organization, structure, and communication. The raid leader can move people between groups at will, add or remove raid members, and use raid alerts and a special raid leader channel. wow gold Raid leaders can also promote assistants who have some of the same powers. The position of raid leader is the person who started the raid by default. A new raid leader can be appointed if the current leader chooses to pass leadership. buy wow gold Raid leaders are indicated in the raid panel with a solid crown icon next to their name. Raid assistants have crown outlines next to their names. Raid Chat Once you’re in a raid group you can chat in the raid channel by typing /raid, followed by your text. wow gold Text that a raid leader sends to chat is displayed in a different color and has the [Raid Leader] label. Raid UI On the Raid tab of your Social panel, all the members of your raid are displayed by group. The user interface of this Raid panel has functionality that will allow any member to better keep track of the members of the raid.
mp3 players Each class has a tab on the right side of this panel that will allow you to display all members of that class on your display. Simply click and drag the class icon anywhere on your screen. You can also drag an individual group’s name out to place the members of that group on your screen. wow gold In either case, the pullaway window displays the health, mana and limited buffs and debuffs on each player in the window.RELATED LINKS:
